Certified Medical Assistant
A medical assistant works in a physician’s office, clinic, or other health care facility performing physician support services. A Certified Medical Assistant is one who has completed an accredited course of study and passed the Certified Medical Assistant Exam. A CMA may work in an administrative capacity (scheduling appointments, coding and filing insurance forms, using computer applications, maintaining medical records) or in a clinical capacity (taking medical histories, preparing patients for examination, performing basic laboratory tests, instructing patients about medication or special diets) or both.
Course Content
Our course of instruction is designed to enable students to be able to take their places in medical offices immediately upon graduation, functioning at full efficiency and with the knowledge they need to be successful. Specific areas of study include:
- Medical terminology
- Computer applications
- Recordkeeping
- Coding and insurance processing
- Laboratory techniques
- Clinical and diagnostic procedures
- Pharmacology
- Medication administration
- First aid
- Office practices
- Patient relations
- Medical law and ethics
Certified Medical Assistant Upcoming Program Dates
The next class will start on November 4, 2024. Class is Monday – Thursday, 9AM – 4PM
When you come to register for the CMA class you must bring your social security card, your state issued ID, a copy of your high school diploma/GED, & a copy of your immunization records (including Covid-19 and Flu), with your $500 deposit.
Certification Testing
Successful completion of the CMA Program qualifies the student to take the National Certification exam administered by a National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Proctor, and accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), a division of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE). The NHA is a nationally recognized professional certification agency for healthcare workers in the United States. This means once the student has passed the exam, they are certified to work as a CMA anywhere in the US.
