Saad Healthcare Announces Proposed Residential Hospice Facility
August 06, 2014
Saad Healthcare has filed an application for a Certificate of Need with the Alabama State Health Planning and Development Agency to establish an inpatient hospice facility adjacent to its existing offices on University Boulevard in Mobile. The 34-bed facility will provide comprehensive general and respite hospice care for patients.
The facility will have the look and feel of home, incorporate nature as part of its design, and deliver the absolute best experience for patient and family. The facility will be a freestanding inpatient hospice facility and not part of an acute care hospital or skilled nursing facility. This type of facility is gaining popularity nationwide. It will offer a home-like atmosphere with private rooms, family rooms, family kitchens, and a 24-hour visitation policy.
You can take a virtual tour of the new facility at www.hospice.home. We think you will be as excited as we are once you see how lovely the new campus will be!
Management of Saad Healthcare believe there is a great need for a facility of this kind in the Mobile area. Patients who are facing end-of-life medical needs want to remain in their homes or in an environment as close to that as possible. If they do not have family members who can care for them, however, their only choices currently are hospitals and skilled nursing facilities, with their concomitant sterile, institutional atmospheres. Saad’s new facility will be home-like and family-friendly, with a beautiful chapel, walking trails, fireplaces, and a lake.
Saad’s hospice program has served the needs of terminally ill patients with care and compassion for more than 25 years and has developed a reputation for excellence in end-of-life care. Providing the full range of nursing care, spiritual support, social services, and emotional support, as well as bereavement care for families, Saad offers the most comprehensive hospice program in the Gulf Coast area.
The new facility will open approximately nine months following approval of the Certificate of Need application by the state.
The new facility is an expansion of Saad Healthcare’s services. Saad will, of course, continue to offer in-home hospice services to patients who can and want to remain in their homes. The new facility will house the offices for all of the hospice staff and will serve as the headquarters for the entire hospice program.
